For a music assessment, we had to compose a piece in a 20th century style for a small ensemble. I chose the style "Primitivism" and my friend chose the same style as me.
The mark I got for fulfulling the stylistic criterion was either a B+ or B; however, my friend got an A-.
I believe my composition is quite Primitivism-sounding and that the mark I got for this particular criterion isn't a true reflection of my composition. I would be very appreciative if I could get your opinion on this matter.
(piece1 is mine, piece2 is my friend's.)

Music teacher gave me wrong mark. What do you think?

Welcome to the board. I think both pieces are outstanding examples of primitivism in music.
I hope your teacher made comments. It is really wrong to assign a creative exercise and return only a bare grade. Most grading is quite subjective, you know, this notion of "grading rubrics" notwithstanding. Good luck with your continued studies.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
-- Johann Sebastian Bach
Hi and welcome! I thought yours was just as good as your friend's. I noticed his/hers was a lot longer--maybe the teacher gave more points for that? Agree with jbuck on the difficulty of assigning a grade based on such a subjective thing.
