Mitropoulos and Bachauer question

Post by Lance » Tue Jun 06, 2006 8:27 am

What might be your reaction having a recording available of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 in a live performance with two supreme Greek musicians: conductor Dimitri Mitropoulos and pianist Gina Bachauer. Does it do anything for you?

I certainly would want to hear it.

Well - you may have that chance! It's a true dream collaboration, especially in this overwhelming, overpowering incredible concerto.

I have a recording of Gina Bachauer doing the Rachmaninoff Second concerto - and it's very good. I'd love to hear her in the Third, which I prefer to the Second. More info please?

Yes, most definitely. Her Brahms 2 remains one of my favorites.

Well, the Mitropoulos/Bachauer is something we're working on. We hope to see the live performance on CD at some point in the 60 days. I'll keep you posted!
