Actually I believe Isabelle Vengerova was Nicholas Slonimsky's aunt. He was the nephew.

Alexander Taneyev, a distant relative of Sergey, is almost unknown,but
his 3 SQ (on Olympia),are IMO splendid russian works.

Also a cellist, former principal of the Chicago Symphony (1920s) and later N.Y. Philharmonic-Symphony. He made a rare recording of Strauss' Don Quixote with Beecham and the N.Y. Philharmonic in 1932 for RCA/Columbia (U.K.).

The notes for the LP transfer state that this recording was made in both 78 RPM and RCA's early long playing format (i.e. the lang playing sides were not dubbed from the 78s), although the latter does not seem to have been issued.
