Every year that I have taught geometry (which is ever year I have taught excerpt the current school year) I do the giant monsters lesson. Strength increasese with the square of muscle cross-sectioin; weight increases proportional to volume, which is a cube. A being twice as big is four times as strong but eight times as heavy. That is why we had to evolve endosekeletons to support our structure and why whales can only survive in the ocean, and why we will never be threatened by giant spiders, etc. Unfortunately, it is also why humans suffering from the condition of giantism die young; they are simply not strong enough, especially in heart strength, to support their own weight.
There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
