What has happened to Mapquest?

I don't plan to make a habit of picking brains here this way, but I don't exactly live in the center of sophistication and temporarily I don't have access to a computer guru at school. Why are the maps produced by Mapquest recently so non-functional? You can't scroll in a compass direction, you can't recenter, they don't tell you whether you're zooming or zooming out and even then it's only on the center of the original map--anyone who has used it recently knows what I mean.

The computer guy at the school in Germany would have said something like "nobody uses Mapquest anymore--go to ......." But I don't have anyone here to tell me that.

I do go to the library several times a week so if you can't help someone there probably can, but folks, I'm desperate.

I just used MAPQUEST to print out directions to darkest New Jersey where I'm going tonight to take a friend out. No problem.

The directions still work the same. It's the functionality and manipulability of the actual maps that has been degraded.

I use mapquest frequently. I just tried it and clicking on the compass points caused it to scroll nicely. Zooming and recentering works fine also. Try it again John.

Thanks, Impower, it does in fact work, you just have to know what you're doing. I could swear it worked differently no more than a couple of months ago (of course, all such things are in a constant state of being updated). The new way of scrolling, if that's what it is, is actually better than the old.

I consider this thread closed for the purposes for which I initiated it unless someone has further wise counsel to offer. Thanks to all.
