Frank Wiens piano recital

Post by GK » Sun Feb 22, 2009 11:42 pm

Frank Wiens a touring professional pianist who is also a music professor at the University of the Pacific gave a recital at Riderwood Village a senior community in Silver Spring, MD where I reside.
The program:

Mozart- Adagio in B Minor
Grieg-Ballade in G Minor
Kodaly-Dances of Marosszek
Liszt-Sonata in B Minor
Rachmaninoff-Prelude in D Minor (encore)

Mr. Wiens was rewarded with a well deserved long standing ovation.

(Side Note-Mr. Wiens made a recording of Rachmaninoff's 3rd piano concerto with Paul Freeman and the Slovakia National Orchestra which does not appear on our old friend Kwoon's list.)

Very nice program, indeed! I wonder if Frank Wiens is any relation to the singer Edith Wiens? Can you also advise the LABEL of Wiens' recording of the Rach 3? I'm sure Kwoon will add this to his collection!
