Lance is around, but ...

Post by Lance » Tue May 10, 2016 4:13 pm

As soon as I returned from the wonderful get-together with CMG people and some new faces, I wrote an in-depth note and just as I went to post it, my connection dropped. Alas, when will I remember to type notes in Word and copy and paste??? Alas, given the schedule and preparing to leave for San Antonio, Texas for eight days, I was not able to rewrite it.

While getting ready to prepare a piano for a concert last Friday, there were no lights in the auditorium except in the hallway. I walked out on to the stage, trying to find lights to turn on so I could see, and went down a set of stairs only to fall with a penlight flashlight in a totally black building, and hit the floor. This past Sunday, still hurting thumb, wrist and arm, it was determined I had fractured my thumb. I now await to see a bone doctor to determine what needs to be done.

In case you were wondering, hard to type and all, I have been laying low, still trying to accommodate a hugely busy concert schedule for pianos. I have, of course, not forgotten my CMG fantastic friends!

Stay well,
LANCE

Lance hope all this heals soon-it was so great to be opposite you and Steve for the dinner and then to run into you guys on the subway after Elektra--how amazing we were staying at a hotel right next to where the 2 of you were! Regards, Len

"Hard to type at all" from someone who types about 110 wpm if not more. :( Omigosh, Lance, what an appalling thing to happen, but a fall like that could have resulted in even worse. I know it's especially bad for you because of your profession, and hope and assume that the bone doctor can make it only a matter of time until it is healed. Regards, John Brosseau

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Hi Lance:

Sorry I only got to this thread (and site) today as I was dealing yesterday with health issues of my own (my periodic dizzy spells, and a backache). But I feel sad for your predicament and hope you'll be back to normal in little time at all.

Sincerely,
Neil

Lance,

What a terrible surprise, to read your post. It could have been much, much worse, my friend--do be more careful and take care of yourself. Get that X-ray pronto!

Warm wishes from both of us,

Brian & Teresa
