Music of Sergei Bortkiewicz

Post by Len_Z » Mon Apr 03, 2017 3:03 am

I'm just getting into the music of Sergei Bortkiewicz and wonder if anybody might have any recommendations regarding particular recordings. If you have any favorites, please share.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Len --

Hyperion has served Bortkiewicz rather well. Stephen Coombs has recorded a double album (2 for the price of 1) of solo piano music, as well as the composer's piano concerto. Martyn Brabbins has recorded the Symphonies 1 & 2. I recommend all of them.

Thank you very much - I'm really glad to hear that all those recordings come recommended; gives me a lot of new material to listen to this Spring.

Best regards,

Excellent listening, thanks Steve! I would buy the CD if it were still in print. It's on Spotify, though, as well as youtube, so that'll have to be good enough for me.
