Wash Post reports Trump blurted out secrets to Russian officials

Post by jserraglio » Mon May 15, 2017 5:20 pm

Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minister and ambassador

The Post is holding back as too sensitive to publish the classified intelligence that they say Trump blabbed to the Russian ambassador and foreign minister.

According to Alan Dershowitz, this is the most serious charge ever levelled against a sitting POTUS.

Trump needs to go and needs to go now. If the Post story is true, he has again shown himself to be a clear-and-present danger to national security. Problem is how to prevail on him to resign.

Trump sowed the seed of discord in the intelligence community, most recently by firing James Comey. Now he is reaping the whirlwind as they may be the force that hit him back hard yesterday night.

The Wash. Post scoop has been confirmed in its essentials by the New York Times. Thanks go to the elite newspapers. Absent them, the nation could be in much deeper trouble.

It's a sorry state of affairs when the media feels it cannot in good conscience publish harmful intelligence info that the president freely hands out to our enemies.

"Dangerous" Donald has outstayed his welcome.
Washington Post editorial column wrote:The picture is not so much of conspiracy or malevolence, but of unfathomable carelessness.

Given his many business failures, the only realms in which Trump has proven himself adept are those of popular manipulation and treachery, along with the related arts of show business. No doubt he will use them in the coming days to mislead and scapegoat his way out of accountability.

If, for the first time, one could sketch out a somewhat plausible case for impeachment following the president’s admission that he fired Comey over Russia, one could now piece together an argument for removal due to presidential incapacity based on the revelation that Trump betrayed dear national security secrets in order to impress the Russian foreign minister. The president may have just shown that he can and will harm the nation’s security without any apparent intent to do so.

Impeachment probably is not realistic, but Congress must engage in more aggressive investigation and checking and balancing.

Trump statement via Twitter:
As President I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety. Humanitarian reasons, plus I want Russia to greatly step up their fight against ISIS & terrorism.

What he wants and what Russia will actually do could be very different! Sure hope Congress will demand more than just that tweet as his explanation. Regards, Len :(

It's sickening to see that only an isolated Republican in the Congress has anything negative to say about the constant horrible mistakes, misstatements and outright lies by this brutally inept and dangerous man.
What are they waiting for before they speak out ?
Disgraceful .

According to columnist George Will, the GOP, like most politicians, espouse situation ethics. Right and wrong are determined by which chair you happen to be sitting in.

Our allies are fearful, our enemies are gleeful. How different would the present situation be if Trump had in fact been a Siberian candidate?
