This looks suspiciously like something that must have been posted here already, but I have not seen it before. "Song" of course in the cyber world means any piece of music up to a movement from a Beethoven symphony, a pic of a 78 of which is featured at the top of this post. Offered for your comments, as it does appear to include a fair amount of classical music.

78 RPM online collection released
There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Re: 78 RPM online collection released
There were days long ago when you could order a pressing against a matrix number from HMV, dare say Columbia (UK) too, and see what turned up. Apparently collectors pored through the catalogues for blank artist/title entries.
Interesting times.

My goodness, what a mammoth project! The labels from 78s reproduced on the site are all pop stuff, and the classical sides are a small minority - 25 "classical," 7 "opera." And YouTube is a great source for classical 78s, mostly in LP or CD transfers but some from the originals. But for some, perhaps many, this could be a useful resource.
