So, what CDs might you like to get for gifts?

Your 'hot spot' for all classical music subjects. Non-classical music subjects are to be posted in the Corner Pub.

So, what CDs might you like to get for gifts?

Yes, the holiday season is upon us. What could be better than getting some CDs you really want to have but don't want to lay out the cash hoping to be "gifted?"

It hasn't happened yet, but it is hopeful that RCA/Coumbia under the SONY label will one day issue ALL of the recordings in a boxed set conducted by Dimitri Mitropoulos. I don't think the days of mega-boxed sets is quite over yet, and plenty has been reissued over the past. If the CD is eventually going to be replaced by downloads (which I don't/won't do except in very rare cases), then you will one day be happy you have the discs. I hope CD players will, of course, continue to be manufactured to keep us all happy as well.

The Martha Argerich Box Set on DGG is my choice. I have loads of piano music, but Argerich is special...... 8)

Hmm. Outside of Brian/Maesbrob, apparently nobody wants any holiday gifts. And here I was going to send everybody what they wanted! {Kidding, of course.}
