Many here might know all of this, and I suppose I knew maybe 2/3 of it, but it still has astonishing moments. For one thing, Donald Isler, whose father and our late member Werner served in the US Army During WW II, might be interested to know that Captain von Trapp, already something of a war hero and virulently anti-Nazi, volunteered to serve in the US submarine service after immigrating. (There was at the time no more difficult military duty to undertake.) He was refused. Do not worry about the caption. It is in English.
