Chalkie documentary on BBC 4

Post by jbuck919 » Tue Jul 03, 2018 8:00 am

A documentary about the career of Chalkie Davies is scheduled for broadcast on BBC 4 at 11:30 p.m. GMT this Friday, July 6. I've checked on the possibilities for receiving the feed in the US, when it would happen live at a slightly more civilized hour, but I'm a bit lost as to whether it can be done for free. Perhaps one of our members who follows BBC 4 in the US can help out.

Chalkie, for those who don't know, is probably the most famous photographer of pop stars of all time. He didn't do do a Beatles cover, but name just about anything else and he had a hand in it. This came along with strong personal friendships with many of his photographic subjects. He is a mensch, an speaking for myself, I miss him.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

I have in my computer a 29 minute film on him-I wonder if this is a repeat or a new program. Does he know about the 2 forum dinners we are having this summer? Regards, Len

BBC Radio 4 can be received for free anywhere in the world. But the Chalkie show will be on TV 4, and that's only available to British residents who have paid the annual licence fee. So unless somebody uploads it to YouTube or a web site, we're out of luck. By the way, according to the BBC 4 schedule, it's to air at 12:00, not 11:30.

BBC 4's looks to be a repeat of the BBC 2's 2015 film which clocks in at 29'05" and is available for viewing free of charge.
