Concert Aug. 4 in memory of Roger Beare

Post by diegobueno » Wed Aug 03, 2005 10:28 pm

Many people who post here will remember Roger Beare, a regular contributor here who died last year. I would like to pass on an announcement of a concert in his memory which takes place tonight (Aug. 4) in Ottawa. Roger was an enthusiastic supporter of the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival:

I would like to inform you that in our 2005 Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival (from July 23 until August 6), we are dedicating a concert to the memory of Roger Beare.  The concert is entitled, “A Schubert Evening,” and it will take place at 8 p.m. at Dominion Chalmers United Church (355 Cooper Street; the cross street is O’Connor Street).

The following pieces by Schubert will be played: Overture for String Quartet in C Minor, String Quartet in A minor, Rosamunde, Quintet for piano and strings, The Trout.

The musicians mentioned below will be performing:
Andrew Dawes – violin
Manuela Milani – violin
Guylaine Lemaire – viola
Julian  Armour – cello
Murielle Bruneau – double bass
Andrew Tunis - piano

What a wonderful tribute to a fine gentleman. I wish I could be there.

Same here. I miss Roger's presence here and his sudden death was a shock to many of us. A most appropriate tribute.

Horrors - lovingly known here as Ro-zhay, great ranconteur and libationist, with great joie de vivre. Wonder if Miz Marfy knows...
