My first hearing of pianist Alexandre Kantorow.
BIS Records likes him : https://bis.se/performers/kantorow-alexandre/
I’ve not heard any of the BIS.Anyone here ? TIA.He is the 22-year old son of Jean-Jacques Kantorow, conductor of Finland’s Tapiloa Sinfonietta.
Interesting program choices at 22. A Lisztian approach to the Brahms Sonata ( if Liszt would ever play it ? ), a barely tamed wild animal in Kantarow’s view apparently , at times perhaps even foreshadowing Scriabin ( to my ear ).Unforced, colorful, nuanced, cogent Beethoven and Brahms Op.79. Even in an era when superior technique of youngsters is taken for granted, the fireworks at the end , especially live, are extraordinary without seeming exhibitionist.
