Wilson's rather static staging of Lohengrin was heavily criticized IIRC some years ago. So-called "modern" stagings rarely satisfy me. I really prefer the lavish Zefferelli Turandot at the MET, but I guess that lower budgets for Wilson's may account for some of his popularity with opera companies.
