There is only one musician's union. It covers all types of music...broadway to orchestral to jazz to pop.

I went looking for Colin Bradbury and found this website. It says that he was clarinetist in the BBC...I sure thought it was the Philharmonia though. His editions of clarinet music that he's brought back to life is pretty impressive too.

Diogenes, I believe Carbonare did record Mozart. It's on the disk with the Rossini Variations and another work that I can't remember at the moment. The disk is wonderful, but may be OOP already. Carbonare's disks didn't last too long on the "shelf". If you see it, grab it. I've yet to be disappointe...

Is that recording deal even a success? The orchestra is basically paying for somebody to print some cds, and hoping that they can break even by selling more than they could possibly hope to sell. If that's the greatest thing this guy did...it's not saying much.

I'll agree that it's great news that Philly will be on records again...but...to think that it took eight years of negotiations to come up with a plan to pay a recording company to record your concerts and put them on disk...and if it's a huge success, you might not be in the hole...is kind of sad.

My favorite Brahms quintet is the Reginald Kell/Busch quartet. Everything else is in another league. Reginald Kell sounds like his last name was Busch...he's so in with the quartet. I also like the Stoltzman/Cleveland recording...stay away from the Tokyo quartet version...there's very little there. ...
