Shumsky was a great violinist, almost forgoten now. He left few recordings but all are excelent. His Kreisler's, Ysaye solo sonatas and Pierre Rode unique version of the 24 solo violin caprices are already classics.
Otar Taktakishvili was a georgian romantic composer almost unknown. I have his violin concerto, which is one of my favorites and IMO one of the most beautiful ever composed. And try to find his Concertino for violin and orch. 0istrakh had a fantastic version, but it's only on LP.
