Absolutely!! I mean, you can't tell us apart, can you? :Lance wrote:... Vladimir ... as in HOROWITZ?.....MarkC wrote:Oh -- just noticed this.

True story, speaking of "call me Vladimir" (not about me):
Years ago I was watching this college basketball game, and the name of one of the players was Vladimir McCrary. The announcers explained how he got that name.
(Please sit down, maybe get some popcorn.)
When he was born -- I mean literally, after he was delivered -- the doctor asked the mother what the boy's name would be. She said, I don't know, how about you pick one. So, the doctor looked up at the TV and saw that Horowitz was on, so he said, how about Vladimir Horowitz. And she said fine -- and named him Vladimir Horowitz McCrary. (I understand she misspelled the "middle" name a little, don't remember exactly how.)
He was a star on the U. of New Mexico basketball team, but as is the case for most college stars, he didn't make the pros. However, he didn't disappear either. Apparently he became an actor of some note, and you can find him on IMDB and elsewhere. Plus it seems he has a Facebook page.

mnmleung was Mark, until he worked in a team with 5 other people called Mark as well. So he switched to his Chinese name Ming ... you can use either Mark or Ming
I once suggested to a florist that he could associate my name with a Ming vase.
He said if he thought of a Wedgewood instead, he would end up calling me Wedgie ...

My first name is Dan, though it might be in my signature (I forget). Most of the old regulars that are still around already know that though.
[Edit: Yup, in my signature, so, uh, never mind]
