Frank Bridge Piano Trio No. 2 with Score

Post by maestrob » Thu Jul 08, 2021 7:25 am

Came upon this 1987 CD that I haven't played in decades as I've been ripping & uploading my complete collection to the cloud:

This link is not to the performance on the CD, but to another that's equally ethereal:

Many thanks for this. My first hearing. A very interesting work.

His late Romantic , earlier period, brief Trio No.1 I checked out, then. Not as interesting as No.2, but worth hearing:

Bridge had a dark side. Although having to hear this work 3 - 4 times on my Naxos cd with Ashley Wass before getting “acclimated “ to it, I did find that having the score on this YT very helpful in understanding better all going on. A VERY demanding work, both for pianist and listener:

Interesting. I'll be looking on these a bit later on. Glad you liked the Piano Trio II. I did too, quite a bit more than I did 35 years ago. If you (or anyone else here) want the CD, there are a few inexpensive used copies on Amazon right now.
