Thanks for this!! The sound quality is quite compromised but Argerich is a phenomenon. She is too hurried and glib in some of her playing (as in the Ravel and Chopin Mazurkas in this recording) yet in others she is just sublime. From whence comes that kind of preternatural skill?

The Bach suite proves yet again how 'modern' that staggeringly wonderful composer was. One of the glories of the western world and my own existence.

Agreed here , but also about her playing in general, although there are some great moments later in her career, eg. her Prokofieff 3rd with Dutoit and chamber works.

I didn't know she unwell but, as a man observed to me at a private hospital 2 years ago while I waited to take the spouse home, "it doesn't improve"!! (The spouse did but he'd had bi-lateral knee replacements.)
