Pianist Nikola Meeuwsen

Post by Rach3 » Mon Mar 27, 2023 11:16 am

Young Dutch pianist Nikola Meeuwsen live.My first hearing.

Enjoyed his Beethoven, preferred his more light-handed,spontaneous-sounding reading to the performances I usually hear from pianists who seem to think the Beethoven in No.26 is the same Beethoven as in 29 or 32. The Debussy was fine, although needed bit more mystery, color for my taste. Very nice, naturally flowing, mature Schumann, especially as live. Wonderful left-hand emphasis in the climax of the Rachmaninoff, and liked how he the handled the dark middle section of the Brahms.A pianist to hear again in the future if possible.

Nikola Meeuwsen is a remarkably sensitive pianist. Thanks for the discovery. I plan on revisiting this recital in coming days. He is now on my list of artists to follow!
