My Visit With Ralph
I had a very pleasant visit today with our friend, Ralph Stein, in the facility in northern Westchester County (New York) where he has spent most of his time since February, except for when he was in the hospital. He is very glad to have a private room, is happy to hear from people, and has TV and Internet access. Except that he cannot walk, and sits in a wheelchair, he looks good, and his voice is strong. He has dialysis several times a week, and has lost 65 pounds since this started. He knows he cannot go back to eating whatever he likes anymore, but he is determined to make a complete recovery, through physical therapy. He looks forward to being able to walk again, and then being able to come into the city and attend concerts and other events. He sends his greetings to his friends at CMG.

Re: My Visit With Ralph
Thanks for finding Ralph and for the update. Very concerning. As one who came back from debilitation, I will lead the pack in stating that I'm sure we all look forward to his recovery.
There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Thanks, Donald. It's distressing to hear about Ralph's physical condition, so much reduced from the way we knew him, but I'm glad his spirit is so positive, and wish him all the best.

Long one of CMG's leading lights, We mixss yu, Ralph, and are glad that Donald was able to see youand give us a positive repoert.
I had the good luck to meet both Ralph and JBuck19 on the same day a few years ago. John and I met at 'Neil's, scene of further CMG gatherings on a hot summer's day. John's next appointment was with Raph for a Mostly Mozart concert, I believe, before which they'd have dinner. Where did me meet? At Tower, of course! Time marches on.
My memory of both gentlemen remains sharp and friendly, and I hope that we'll have more chances to meet again. In the meanwhile, I know that many CMGers will appreciate Donald's report, and remember Ralph and John as special friends.

Re: My Visit With Ralph
Thanks for the update on Ralph.....I've noticed the absence of his voice here since returning, and was almost afraid to ask about his health. Let's hope he can beat this latest interuption in his lifestyle just as he did the heart attack several years ago! I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person, but we shared common cause (almost 15 years ago!) for the welfare of the delightful young Queen of Ionia. It was Ralph who conferred upon me the titles of "Defender of the Bass Clef" and "Mayor of Tubaville". One had to be there!
It's good to be back among friends from the past.
