A vicarious trip to Cinema Palermo

Here's the place to talk about DVDs (or VHS) films and movies you have seen on television and recommend or don't recommend. Discuss actors and scores, too.

A vicarious trip to Cinema Palermo

Post by jserraglio » Sat Jun 08, 2019 8:16 am

The celebrated flick "Cinema Paradiso" (1988): saw it last nite. Spooky experience. The subs were way out of sync but I could understand the meaning anyway, if not the individual words. The film is mostly in Sicilian, not Italian. which I am told was my first language — in that my live-in, caregiver grandmother spoke only Sicilian.

Recently also saw Terrence Malick's "Days of Heaven" and Luis Bunuel's "An Obscure Object of Desire".

All three are wonderfully heartfelt films.
