Michael Wolff, Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency (2021)

Hilarious and disconcerting at the same time. In breezy mimicry replete with expletives, Michael Wolff mocks the crew of feckless scoundrels that clung to the Rapscallion-in-Chief in his last days in office.

Wolff calls Trump’s 2020 campaign the worst run presidential campaign in American history.

He tells of Kevin McCarthy begging Trump to stop depressing the GOPers’ voter registration by discouraging online voting.

Later, in debate prep, Chris Christie, playing Biden, infuriated Trump by accusing him of having the blood of thousands of covid victims on his hands and of being a failed president. Trump took it out on the real Biden in his disastrous first debate moderated by the hapless Chris Wallace.

Then Christie dushed salt into the wound by telling the media that the President came across in the debate like Frankenstein. Trump never forgave him.

On the budget front, Brad Parscale spent $40 million on ads that did not move the polls an iota, 40% of all online donations went toward raising more online donations, and millions seemed to vanish without a trace to the point where Trump asked who was ripping him off.

By the fall Biden was outspending Trump 3-1.

It’s the best thing I have ever read about Trump.

For saving American democracy through his own ineptitude, Donald may qualify for a Presidential Medal of Freedom.

I can’t cry for laughing.
