Late in the Day by Tessa Hadley (2019)

Intriguing tale of a foursome whose lives take a singular turn after one of them dies from a heart attack. After the first five pages, I was hooked.

The style here is so different from that of Free Love, it could almost be from a different author.

Hadley’s beginning her novel with the defining and climactic event, and using flashbacks back and forth thereafter, is masterful.
