Anyone Mourning?

Post by Gregory Kleyn » Sat Jul 16, 2005 4:32 pm

52 killed and 84 injured in today's Iraq suicide bombing, - in numbers an even worse tragedy than the recent London attacks, - and presumably like the Londoners all of them innocents simply going about their daily tasks, and similarly terrified by the experience.

Anyone mourning?

Yes, EVERY death saddens me.

I would kill him in a heartbeat but the necessity of taking a life doesn't obviate a moral need to regret its happening. And unlike you I have been in combat.

I could have a fit when I think how stupidly we've managed the post war effort in Iraq. Yes, I am deeply sorry for the deaths of people who are victims of our inability to control security there. If only we had done this in 1991 when we had the forces there to secure the area. We would have different problems but we wouldn't have these problems.

Yes but we all know that hindsight is 20/40 (NOTHING is ever 20/20 when reviewing the past).

If only Custer had had air support...

The, ah, historical record reflects his statement, as reported by an Indian scout, that he ordered his squadron of attack helicopters to remain behind. Supposedly he said "I don't need any Apaches to deal with Sioux."
