The British a capella group Voces8 gave a wonderful concert tonight in St Thomas’ Church at Penkhull, a suburb of Stoke-on-Trent. For those that don’t know them, check out their website
http://www.voces8.com/homepage
There are 2 sopranos, 2 altos (one male one female), 2 tenors, a baritone and a bass. They blend superbly and their repertoire ranged from the opening Regina Coeli by Victoria to the closing One Note Samba.
Along the way we heard Madrigals by Weelkes and Lassus, a stunning arrangement of Homeward Bound (originally written by Paul Simon whilst waiting for a train on Widnes station!) and 2019 compositions by Jonathan Dove (Vertue) and Chris Bramall - and more.
They are about to do a US tour (details on their website) so if they are coming to a town near you - go!
