• BBC 4176: Haydn Symphonies 100, 101 and Hindemith Symphonic Metamorphosis w/LPO, Eugen Jochum, conductor.
• BBC 4178: Schumann Piano Concerto and Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 2 with Myra Hess, piano; BBC SO, Sir Malcolm Sargent, conductor.
• BBC 4179: Mahler: Symphony No. 9 in D with Bruno Maderna, BBC SO.
• BBC 4180: Dvorak: Terzetto for Two Violins and Viola; Quartet for Strings No. 14 in A, Op. 105/B; Janacek: Quartet for Strings No. 1 ("Kreutzer Sonata") with the Smetana Quartet.
• BBC 4181: Delius: Piano Concerto in C Minor; Mozart Piano Concerto No. 24; Beethoven "Choral" Fantasy with Clifford Curzon, piano; LPO, Bernard Haitink, conductor.
• BBC 4177: Rudolf Serkin, piano recital. Includes Bach's Capriccio in E; Reger's Variations & Fugue on a Theme of J. S. Bach and Beethoven's Piano Sonatas Nos. 21 [Waldstein] and 24.

There have been some truly great performances from BBC Legends over the years. I hope this continues for many years to come. I just don't know how well they're selling. They are kind of pricey, even in England, where they're made.

I've been reading some real raves about the Maderna Mahler 9 on RCMR. It was apparently out on Arkadia before, but the sound on the new BBC release is greatly improved.

In fact, I've been reading raves about Maderna in general for several years on that board, but have yet to hear anything by him. I think I'll get this Mahler 9.
